Goodreads Blurb: Once the flames are ignited . . .
Miranda
Ellis is a woman tormented. Plagued since birth by a strange and
powerful gift, she has spent her entire life struggling to control her
exceptional abilities. Yet one innocent but irreversible mistake has
left her family's fortune decimated and forced her to wed London's most
nefarious nobleman.
They will burn for eternity . . .
Lord
Benjamin Archer is no ordinary man. Doomed to hide his disfigured face
behind masks, Archer knows it's selfish to take Miranda as his bride.
Yet he can't help being drawn to the flame-haired beauty whose touch
sparks a passion he hasn't felt in a lifetime. When Archer is accused of
a series of gruesome murders, he gives in to the beastly nature he has
fought so hard to hide from the world. But the curse that haunts him
cannot be denied. Now, to save his soul, Miranda will enter a world of
dark magic and darker intrigue. For only she can see the man hiding
behind the mask.
Oh my, steamy moments! I loved this book. It takes place in Victorian London, and has quite a few paranormal elements in it. It was a pretty fast paced book. I was sad it ended. The pov is through a few characters, but you mainly see the story unfold through the eyes of Miranda and Archer.
Miranda has to steal in order to keep her father from completely going under financially. He, however, decides that he will arrange a marriage for her in order to keep his pockets from going empty. Even though she is mad about this arrangement she agrees to it. When she sees and talks to her soon-to-be husband she learns that she is not the only one with a secret.
Miranda is a strong female character. She doesn't take crap from anyone. She also doesn't let men rule over her, which was customary during that time. She's red head with a temper, and extremely meddlesome. Archer is a tortured soul. He has dedicated his life to find a cure for this thing that has happened to him. He has tried to be unselfish, but he could not deny himself the woman he has thought about for 3 years. He tries to protect her when an unknown being begins killing off members of a club he belongs to, West Moon Club.
The plot is pretty fast paced. There seems to be dead bodies popping up everywhere! But you have to wonder who is responsible. You may clue in on some of the hints, or be completely shocked. :D Firelight has mystery, intrigue, paranormal beings, and quite a few sexy scenes. Go get this now!
